Scott’s All-Stars attend SSU camp

Desmond Brown, Marcus Scott V and Simon Steele attended the 2011 Savannah State University basketball camp June 13-17. According to All-Stars founder Marcus Scott, the camp provided fundamental and individual instructions suited to each camper. The players used the new skills they learned to develop teamwork. They also had the opportunity to hear keynote speakers provide motivational speeches to the audience, Scott said.

Matthews signs with Rangers

Former Richmond Hill High School standout Kevin Matthews has agreed to terms with the Texas Rangers, the club announced Saturday. Details of the contract weren't released, but the Dallas Morning News reported he received a signing bonus of $936,000. Matthews, who went 4-2 with the Wildcats in 2011, was the Rangers top draft pick and the 33rd overall pick in the first-year player draft on June 6.
