Local bikers ride for clothes, diaper drive

Ray Curtis, a retired Army command sergeant major and Hinesville general manager for Omni Financial, recently accepted a challenge from his son, an airman stationed at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi to ride his Harley Davidson on a particularly cold morning. Curtis, in turn, decided to challenge yet another biker.

Ludowici to hold first MLK parade

Ludowici will host its first Martin Luther King Jr. Parade at 10 a.m. Jan. 10. Long County MLK Observance Committee member Mary Hamilton said that the parade's theme is "Living the Dream, Where Do We Go from Here." She said that participants may walk, drive a vehicle, ride a horse or enter a float. The deadline to enter the parade is Jan. 3, and the line-up time is 9 a.m.

Suicide victim's body found in tree

The body of an apparent suicide victim was found hanging from a tree, about 19 feet above the ground, around 3:30 p.m. Monday behind the parking lot of Islands Real Estate in Midway.

Nonprofit’s kindness brightens seniors’ holiday

A delivery consisting of more than 200 Christmas gifts brightened an otherwise cold, wet and gloomy Monday for the residents of Woodland Healthcare in Midway. The act of holiday cheer, courtesy of Eleven Black Men of Liberty County and the donations of numerous other community members, was just a small part of the nonprofit entity's mission to teach children by setting good examples.
