Midway, LCDA hope to agree over bills

Representatives from the city of Midway and the Liberty County Development Authority and their respective attorneys met Friday to discuss the manner in which water and wastewater usage rates and connection fees are charged. The city and development authority have an intergovernmental agreement in place to share water and sewer infrastructure. The authority operates an industrial park in Midway and the Tradeport East Business Park adjoining Midway's city limits.

Hinesville Fire Dept. gets grant for car seats

The Hinesville Fire Department on Tuesday afternoon received a $4,100 donation from Firehouse Subs to provide car seats to eligible applicants. Stefan Smith, a 3rdInfantry Division soldier and Ludowici resident who was killed in action July 23 in Afghanistan. Supporters line road as soldier's remains pass

As a sign of solidarity, supporters from around the coastal region lined the sides of Highway 84 in Hinesville on Friday morning as the remains of Sgt. Stefan Smith were returned home. Hundreds of people waved flags and stood solemnly as a hearse, flanked by the Patriot Guard, made its way to Carter's Funeral Home.
