State awards local DNR rangers for heroism

Gov. Nathan Deal earlier this week presented Georgia DNR Law Enforcement Cpl. Bobby White and Ranger 1stClass Patrick Gibbs with the Governor's Public Safety Award for Act of Heroism for saving the life of a young child in a dramatic river rescue last year.

Wreaths for Warriors Walk is Saturday

The 11th annual Wreaths for Warriors Walk is at noon Saturday at Cottrell Field. The event honors the fallen heroes of the 3rd Infantry Division and their families, and will be held regardless of weather. Organizers are looking for volunteers to come out Friday and help decorate Warriors Walk.
