Road work closures suspended for weekend

ATLANTA - To ease Memorial Day weekend traffic congestion, the Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending construction-related lane closures from noon Friday through 5 a.m. Tuesday on interstates, and limiting lane closures on state routes that directly serve major tourist and recreation centers.

GDOT awards $200,000 for Liberty County road projects

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a $1,815,000 award for 21 safety projects in 15 counties in southeast Georgia, including $200,000 in Liberty County. The funds are part of the fiscal 2016 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant Off-System Safety Program, according to a news release issued Thursday night.

Georgia Supreme Court rules in Sapelo Island land dispute
