Congressman Jack Kingston welcomed students from the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC this week, including two from Liberty County. Brandon Schreihofer of Hinesville and Jasmine Brown of Allenhurst took part in the conference that offers students an opportunity to discuss current events and issues with policy makers in Washington. The Hinesville City Council honored Henry Brewton at its meeting last week. The honor was presented by Councilman Charles Frasier, recognizing Brewton as a mentor of his who deserved recognition for 22 years of volunteer service towards the Hinesville Housing Authority. "It is rare that someone will serve the city on their own time for so many years, and ask for nothing in return," Frasier said.
Local earns degree at OSU Hinesville resident Jamar N. Ransom finished work on a bachelor's in science in general business from Oklahoma State University during the fall 2006 semester. He was among 1,470 students, representing 35 states and numerous countries, who finished work on degrees at the Stillwater school, according to the registrar's office. MOUNT VERNON - Twenty-three students from Liberty County qualified for the Dean's List at Brewton-Parker College for the fall 2006 semester, Dr. Ron Melton, provost, announced. Qualifying students were enrolled in 12 or more hours and earned a grade point average of 3.6 or better.
