UnityFest seeking entertainers

Plans for "UnityFest - A Community Praise Celebration" are coming together. The event committee is accepting entertainment proposals for the Sept. 14 festival, which will run from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Amphitheatre at Bryant Commons in downtown Hinesville.

AUSA marks Flag Day, Army birthday

The Association of U.S. Army of the Coastal Empire, soldiers, officers and supporters marked Flag Day and the Army's 238th birthday Friday. A cake-cutting ceremony was preceded by an AUSA golf tournament at Fort Stewart's Taylors Creek Golf Course that drew 91 soldiers and civilians.

Claxton band is making noise

The musical trio known as Ten Mile Creek, hailing from Claxton, may be fairly new to the local music scene. However, its members have an impressive 15 years of performance experience between them. Brendon Sapp, formerly of Stoneheart, and Dalton Hutcheson and Samarie Palmer, both formerly of No Trespassing, came together earlier this year and have already began to establish themselves as a country force to be reckoned with. SCAD grad show; Summer Solstice

California's groove-heavy Greyboy Allstars will headline SCAD's "New Alumni Concert" Friday, May 31 in Forsyth Park. The jazz/funk band, formed 10 years ago by DJ Andreas Stevens and tenor sax player Karl Denson, have a new album out (minus Stevens, the original "DJ Greyboy"): Inland Emperor, says allmusic.com, is "a menagerie of sounds that are so evocative and mood-setting, they almost work as a soundtrack to a film."
