Editor, I am opposed to any expansion of the existing Townsend Bombing Range. Expansion of the Townsend Bombing Range will have a long-term, detrimental impact on the quality of life in Long County and a devastating financial impact on its citizens.
Editor, There have been several calls to Sound off calls recently concerning Manna House and its operation. Manna House is a nonprofit organization incorporated in Georgia as a registered charity. Our mission is to provide emergency food assistance to needy residents of Liberty County.
Editor, The next meeting of the Irene Miller Park Hinesville neighborhood/crime watch is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.
Editor, This photo of an overturned polycart on Limerick Road in Lake George was taken two years ago. Most likely it was dogs that turned it over, but we have a lot of raccoons in Lake George so they could have made this mess. I don't know who stood the polycart back up, but, as you can see, they left the litter. This is why I never want a polycart at the end of my drive.
Editor, At the Aug. 17 Ludowici City Council meeting, I presented a three-page document containing information about nepotism, which means the hiring of a family member. I actually read it to the entire room so no one could say they didn't know what I was talking about. I handed each member a copy of the three-page document and also gave one to Mr. Kitchens, the city attorney.

After attending schools in Laurens, Dodge, Jeff Davis, Pierce and Wayne counties, he graduated in Screven, Georgia.
Editor, I'm wondering why the Liberty County Board of Education does not have representatives on the China fiasco. They are really good at wasting money, too.
Editor, Thank you to Dot Moss and W. Bush for their recent letters to the editor concerning required, county-sponsored polycarts for garbage pickup. I agree completely with their views.
Editor, On Saturday, July 31, there was a back-to-school cookout held at the community park in Holmestown for the unincorporated areas of District 5 (Holmestown, Longreach and McIntosh).
Editor, This is not a "chicken-little-sky-is-falling" question for those of us who live on the coast. It is an ever-present and uncomfortable reality called a hurricane. Savannah, Hilton Head and the surrounding area have been very fortunate. We have not experienced a storm in a long time. However, Hurricane Floyd came close and gave us a scare. Those of us who evacuated were given a taste of what a real emergency might be like.
Editor, Say no to polycart pickup! I believe the county is making a big mistake in forcing the county residents to have trash pickup. I live on a dirt road and so do many other residents in the area. Many of these roads are considered private roads, and therefore not maintained by the county. All the residents on these roads have to work together and maintained the roads themselves.
Editor, I take exception with the Coastal Courier's recent report, "No issues at local polls."

Editor, The Hinesville Military Affairs Committee was responsible for organizing and coordinating community support for the food court that served at least 9,000 free meals to soldiers and their families as part of Fort Stewart's "Worth Fighting For" Independence Day celebration.
Editor, Project Reach G.A.N.G.'s Back-to-School rally was once again a huge success for Liberty County and the surrounding areas. Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc. gives all the credit to God and would like to specially thank its many sponsors and booth participants. The attendance was outstanding at more than 1,500 people. The entertainment also was great with recording artist Naomi Ruth McFadden, USA Weightlifting Team Hinesville, Ayoluwa African Dance Theater, Polynesians Dancers, and guest speaker Larry ...
