JV Highlanders win, varsity loses

First Presbyterian Christian Academy hosted Heritage Christian on Tuesday for a region volleyball game. The junior varsity Highlanders were victorious in two sets, but the varsity squad lost to the Lady Eagles in three.

LCHS loses first game of season

Saturday's football game between the Liberty County Panthers and the Glynn Academy Red Terrors came down to the fourth quarter and a field goal. In the end, the Red Terrors earned their first win of the season and the Panthers suffered their first loss.

LCHS Lady Panthers win three games in a row

The Lady Panther softball team defeated Burke County 12-5 in five innings on the road Sept. 11, handed Baldwin a 10-1 loss in Liberty County on Saturday and brought down the Statesboro Lady Blue Devils 6-1 at home Monday. LCHS improved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in Region 3-AAA.

Ex-Tiger calling NFL shots

It was early in the first quarter of the New England Patriots' season opener last Monday against the Buffalo Bills when Patriots defensive captain and linebacker Jerod Mayo injured his knee and left the game. Former Bradwell Tiger Gary Guyton moved into the inside linebacker spot and called the plays for the rest of the game.

FPCA soccer advancing

The FPCA Highlanders competed last weekend in Macon against other varsity and junior varsity teams from Georgia and neighboring states. FPCA head coach Tom Sukaratana said he has developed two teams he thinks could control their region for years.

Hinesville Ford General Manager Fred Mingledorff, firefighter Robert Caslen and senior firefighter Mike Scoggins, both of the Hinesville Fire Department, pose with a 2009 Ford Mustang. A car like this will go to any golfer who can hit a hole-in-one at the HFD first annual MDA Golf Tournament on Sept. 26.
