Panther fans cheers and yells filled LCHS's gym as the game drew to a close and the home team clung to a 2-point lead. Dougherty High School fans were solemn … until Trojan Joshua Lewis tossed in a 3-point shot at the buzzer to help his team defeat the Panthers 59-58.

All-Stars ready for action

Scott's All Stars had tryouts Feb. 21 and more than 20 players participated. The team, which combines basketball with academic performance, is for fourth-graders who maintain a B average, perform community service and require no disciplinary action at school. Scott's All-Stars is sponsored by the YMCA, Chatham Eye Associates, PC, Comprehensive OB/GYN and the Hi-Fidelity Civic Club. Scott's All-Stars is coached by head coach Darrell West, assistant coach/president Marcus Scott IV, assistant coach Khari Collins and assistant coach Kevin Corwick. The squad's first tournament is in Atlanta this weekend.

With the nine AAC head coaches voting, Reinhardt had one second team All-AAC selection, one third team All-Conference pick and two players named to the All-Academic Team.
