Panthers headed to Bear country

Liberty County heads to Burke County tonight where they'll take on a tough Bears squad, which is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 3-AAA. The Panthers, 5-2 and 2-1, are looking to hold on to No. 3 or better in the region. There are two games left for LCHS after tonight.

Tigers knocked out of playoffs

The Wolverines of Union Grove beat the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers 7-0 in seven innings and 8-0 in five during Tuesday's double-header. The losses knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs in the first round.

BI Tigers in Union Grove for playoffs

Bradwell's Lady Tiger softball team lost to the Camden Wildcats, 5-0 and 14-2, during a tough double-header last Thursday. However, BI's 6-9 overall and 5-5 Region 3-AAAAA records were enough to maintain the No. 3 spot and advance the squad to the first round of playoffs.

The Bradwell Tigers fell to 1-2 in Region 3-AAAAA and the Knights improved to 2-1 Friday after holding on to a two-point lead to beat the Tigers 27-25 in Savannah at Saunders field.

Blue Tide lose to Charlton County

The Long County High School football team surprised everyone Friday when they took a 7-0 lead against No. 5 Charlton County High School. Despite pulling ahead early and keeping the game close, the Indians went on to beat the Blue Tide 74-28.

Panthers win in overtime

The Liberty County Panthers remained in winners column Friday night when a defensive stand in overtime kept the West Laurens Raiders from scoring a two-point conversion. After regulation time ended in a 10-10 tie, Liberty had scored and converted the 1-point after so won 17-16.

In Savannah, however, the Bradwell Tigers lost to Windsor Forest. With four defensive line starters sitting out with injuries the Knights mustered enough offense to eke out a 27-25 win over the Tigers.

Raiders visit LCHS for homecoming

Last year, the Liberty County Panthers boarded buses for a two-hour trek to Dublin where they took on the Raiders in a game that went into double overtime. The Panthers eventually won, 27-26. This year, the Raiders are coming to Donell Woods Stadium tonight for the Panthers' homecoming game, and they're looking to turn the tables.
