Mat Rats matches are a family affair

The Liberty County Recreation Department's wrestling team, the Mat Rats, returned triumphant from the Lil Bulldog Brawl in Lyons last weekend where all five competitors medaled within the top three slots. The folk style meet was another opportunity for the Mat Rat cheerleaders, in this case their parents, to watch their sons in action.

Highlanders hit 14-0 with back-to-back victories

First Presbyterian continues to pummel opponents, remaining undefeated as they took back-to-back wins against Heritage Christian on Thursday night and Citizens Christian Friday night. Heritage fell 81-47 while Citizens lost 95-63.

Some Tigers make all-region football

Several players from the Bradwell Tigers football team were recently named to the 3-AAAAA All-Region Team. Tiger football coach Jim Walsh, Jr., was voted Region coach of the year and running back Sheldon Barnes was voted the region offensive players of the year to top the list. The players and coaches were selected by the coaching staff of the participating region schools within the 3-AAAAA classification.
