BI rallies for win No. 2

Determined to end their losing streak, Bradwell Institute's varsity boys basketball team dug deep Saturday night, forcing overtime and securing a 75-74 win over the visiting Brunswick Pirates. It was an overdue victory for the boys, who had not seen a check in the win column since Nov. 20 when they defeated Long County.

Panther Rion Brown hit a career high 42 points in Liberty's 67-61 win over Burke County on Saturday night, earning the senior the honor of being named WTOC's player of the week. The Lady Panthers fared well, too, winning 73-66.

Donell Woods tourney set for Jan. 16

Donell Woods was an athlete, teacher and coach who devoted his life to the educational system and children of Liberty County before he lost his battle with cancer in his early 40s. It's been 30 years since Woods died, but his legacy continues as the annual tournament bearing his name enters its 16th year. On Saturday, Jan. 16, ninth grade and junior varsity teams will hit the court.
