Panthers fall to GAC in quarterfinals

The Liberty County Panthers fell to the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans on Friday, Nov. 25 in the quarterfinals round of the 2016 AAA state football playoffs. It was a meeting of two top five teams and it took three overtime periods for the Spartans to finally pull away.

Liberty beats Bradwell in local hoops rivalry

Tickets were sold out by 4 p.m. as Liberty County High School hosted Bradwell Institute in basketball games Friday night. The Panther and Tiger fan base cheered and yelled as the teams battled intense and close games. The Liberty girls edged out a 57-50 win against the Lady Tigers. The boys' game had a seven point difference at the half but Liberty exploded in the third to win 120-80.

This Friday the Liberty County Panthers (11-1) will make history when they host the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans (11-1) in the quarterfinals of the AAA state playoffs. It is an epic meeting between two of the top four teams in the state, according to MaxPreps.

The Liberty County Panthers (11-1) advanced to the quarterfinals of the AAA state playoffs Friday night when they defeated the Sonoraville Phoenix (8-4) 28-14 in a game that was a defensive struggle in the first half. Liberty County used a 14-point rally in the third quarter to seal the victory.
