BI boys place first, girls second at Tiger Invitational

The Bradwell institute boys' track team scored 156 points in 16 events at the inaugural Tiger invitational Track meet March 7 at BI. The Lady Tigers finished second in their division with 126 points.

Meet NFL player Ulrick John

Former Bradwell Institute and Georgia State University player Ulrick John will be at South Georgia Bank for a special meet and greet to raise funds for Relay For Life. The Indianapolis Colts picked former Tiger and later GSU Panther offensive lineman in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Scott earns another honor

Long County High School running back Brendon Scott receives his Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Chevrolet Long County Player of the Year trophy from Coastal Courier sportswriter Mike Riddle on Tuesday. In 2014, Scott led Long County with 1,447 rushing yards. He also made the All-Region 2-AA First Team and earned honorable mention on the Class AA All-State team.

Pace, area riders honored at banquet

Lynn Pace, who owned and operated Dixie Stables Farms in Allenhurst for 45 years, was honored at the American Saddlebred Association of Georgia's annual banquet Feb. 21 in the State Botanical Gardens in Athens.
