Bradwell Institute football seniors Joshua Ingram, Nathan Wallace, Tyler Rider, Isaiah Quarterman, and Terrius Crimiel competed in the Georgia vs Florida All Star Border War game this past Saturday at Yulee High School in Yulee, Florida. All five players represented Georgia in the contest, and Florida defeated Georgia with a final score of 28 to 18. Ingram was named Defensive MVP of the game finishing with 17 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble.
Liberty County High School girls and boys basketball teams and Bradwell Institute girls basketball teams prepare for the 2017 Georgia High School Association State Basketball Tournaments, with first round matchups beginning this Friday Feb. 17 and Saturday Feb. 18.
Bradwell Institute High School won the annual Richmond Hill Relays this past Friday, defeating Richmond Hill High School by one point to win their first meet of the year. The Tigers advanced to the top by placing in the top three in seven of the eleven relays. Others schools involved in the relays over the weekend were West Laurens, New Hampstead, South Effingham, Liberty County, Islands, Savannah Christian, and Savannah Arts.
Applications for the Henry "Hank" White Memorial Scholarships are now open. The scholarships are available for two First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Seniors, two Bradwell Institute Seniors, two Liberty County High School Seniors, and one undergraduate Liberty County resident. A written essay along with two letters of recommendation will need to be sent in along with the filled out application. Deadline for the application is Monday, April 10. TYGTAL Exposure and Sports Consulting Services will be holding a College ID Football Scouting Showcase at Bradwell Institute High School on March 11. The showcase will be held for both middle school and high school athletes to display their football skills and be evaluated by NCAA scouts. This showcase will be limited to 100 athletes. This season, Liberty County High School baseball will be under new leadership as Josh Davis replaces Tony Glazer as the head baseball coach for the 2017 season. Davis worked with Glazer as an assistant for three years and has been the offensive line coach for the Liberty County football program for the last six years.
The Liberty County High School boys varsity team defeated Tattnall County High in the Region 2-AAA basketball tournament finals with a final score of 72 to 63. This is the third straight region tournament Liberty County won and the second straight region championship for head coach Julian Stokes. The region win secures a home state playoff game for the Panthers.
