Lady Tide fall in first round of state

The Long County High School softball team's season came to an end on Wednesday as they lost a best of two-out-of-three series to Berrien County in the first round of the state playoffs. According to Lady Tide Head Coach Brian Thomas his team lost to the Rebels 8-0 and in the first game and then 3-0 in the second game. The games were in Nashville.

The Liberty County softball team starts state-playoff play Wednesday in Zebulon. The Lady Panther play Pike County in a best-of-three, with the first game is at 5 p.m. Liberty is 15-14 overall and 5-5 in Region 3-AAAA, while Pike is 18-12 overall and 8-5 in Region 4-AAAA.

The Lady Jackets stung the girls in the second inning to take the lead and eventually win 6-1. Then on Thursday the Lady Panthers traveled to Jesup for the final regular-season game. The Yellow Jackets came out on top again winning 5-0 in the Region 3-AAAA rematch.
