Lady Panthers and Tigers continue road trips toward title

Women's basketball is alive and well in Liberty County as the Bradwell Lady Tigers and the Liberty Lady Panthers continue their quest for a state title. Both Lady squads will have to do it on the road, however, as the competitions gets harder and the road trips get longer.

Three Tigers headed to state weightlifting

The Bradwell Institute Tigers had 19 athletes compete in the Area VI Lee Murray GACA Weight-Lifting competition at Statesboro High two weeks ago. Athletes competed in 10 different weight classes and were allowed 3 lifts per event in bench press, parallel squat, and power clean. The top 3 participants in each weight class advance to the state competition in Perry on Saturday March 22nd. Senior Reuben Boone competed in the 171-180 lb. weight class and earned a first place finish with a 990lb. total. Women’s soccer in full gear for Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers began their soccer season and participated in a recent tournament at Richmond Hill. With only one returning player from last season, many would think that the Lady Panthers would be in a rebuilding stage. But word from the sidelines indicate that the Lady Panthers are looking cohesive and are poised to have a strong defense.

FPCA one win away from championship

The First Presbyterian Highlanders are just one victory away from going to the championship game after last Saturday's win over Heirway Christian Academy at Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon. The Highlanders toppled Heirway 59-44 with Joey Bell once again posting the top scorer of the game with 15 points. Bell also wowed the crowd by dunking the ball over his 6'10" opponent making the WTOC play of the day. Hakeem Golden gave his best by out rebounding the opponents who all ranged in size from 6'4" to 6'10".
