The Liberty County Recreation Department's Midget baseball championship has moved from Thursday to Tuesday, with the game time still at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Junior, Mite and Pee-Wee championships are scheduled for Thursday at Troop Park.

With summer here, it only seems logical to play baseball. Liberty County High School is doing just that as the Coastal Panthers took to the diamond Wednesday to kick off its 32-game season, which lasts until June 23.

Shrimp season open

Georgia waters will open for commercial and recreational harvest of food shrimp at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Commercial food shrimp trawlers will be allowed to operate in Georgia's territorial waters of the Atlantic Ocean waters. Commercial and recreational cast netters, as well as people using a beach seine will be allowed to harvest food shrimp from waters open to the use of these gears.

Teale fulfilled more than equipment manager role

When the Bradwell Tigers take the football field in August, a familiar face from the last three years may not be there. Christopher Teale, the Tigers' equipment manager, graduated from Bradwell Institute last week and said he is on his way to college to study graphic communications. He said he is deciding between Emmanuel College and Andrew College.
