Eagles hold full dress rehearsal

The Georgia Southern Eagles on Saturday spent the last scrimmage of fall camp at Paulson Stadium simulating gameday scenarios - crowd noise pumped over the speaker system included - and left the hundreds of fans in attendance, the coaching staff and the players feeling pretty good overall.

Long County High School softball pitcher Harley Dawson led the Lady Tide to a 1-0 win Thursday over Bryan County. She won a pitching duel with Bryan's Brooke Barfield, striking out 16 batters, giving up only three hits and walking three.

Panthers lose scrimmage on home field, 9-7

South Effingham edged out the Liberty County Panthers, 9-7, in Friday's scrimmage at Donell Woods Stadium. Despite the loss, the Panthers' coaching staff saw enough action to decide on a starting quarterback. Coaches also were relieved to see that even though former standout linebacker Raekwon McMillan is gone, defense didn't skip a beat.
