In Mark 8.15 Jesus cautions his disciples to "beware the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod." This is one of those verses that are positively dense with meaning if the reader understands the background.

Today, churches everywhere will celebrate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. Churches will overflow with larger-than-normal crowds. Pastors will deliver messages focused on that great day when Jesus emerged from the tomb to give us victory over death, Satan and sin.
For many, Easter is just another holiday with fun things for the kids to do and a time to get together with family and eat some good food.
Monday began what we commonly call "Holy Week." This is the week when Christians all over the world remember the final days of Jesus' life and his crucifixion, and it culminates in that most wonderful day of the Christian year, Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the truth of the resurrection of our Lord and savior.
