Besides recently becoming a shoo in for a seat on the Liberty County Commission, Gary Gilliard has been heading up a program that combats alcoholism and other drug addictions.
What does it mean to be set apart? In the Christian world, there are many things said and even quoted from scripture about man. Words that should have such great meaning become clichés. They are often revalued to the point of benign rhetoric.
He has a powerful and inspiring message, yet a sense of humbleness surrounds him. From his humble beginnings in little Riceboro to his promotion to the office of bishop, this man of God says he is just a "servant of God."
National Day of Prayer Key Scripture: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped." Ps 28:7a (KJV)
The new sanctuary is almost complete and there is a sense of excitement among members of Gum Branch Baptist, awaiting the opening of the 500-seat sanctuary.
I am excited about the role of Christians in today's world. Jesus said "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Matthew 5:13
With the astronomical increase in gasoline prices in recent months, driving to Savannah is becoming a luxury. People often drive to Savannah because locally certain items are not available.

"And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together."
A native of Trinidad, he is quite a distance from home. He has settled in the Coastal Empire and is making an impact in the community.
During his earthly ministry, Jesus loved and accepted people just as they were. To the rich, poor, popular and the not so famous, his message was the same.

It's another new year, and our county's spiritual leaders are busy implementing goals to move their churches forward.
We have just celebrated one of the most sacred times on the Christian calendar - the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
Another new year has come.

As this year winds to an end, it is gives each person time to look back not only on the past year but their entire lives. To the young, it seems that life will last forever, but to those who are older, the fact that life will not last forever becomes more apparent with each passing year. In fact the years seem to be rushing by, heading to eternity.
During this season, I'd like to encourage each of us to find Christ in Christmas.

This time of year, Christians celebrate the coming to Earth of a savior - Jesus Christ, our Lord.
We are only a few days away from Christmas Day. I have to admit a couple of things to you. I love the Christmas season, and everything about it. Even as I think about the empty chairs and dinner table, and still am enamored by the lights, trees, decorations, music and pageantry of it all.
What gift are you looking for this year? Which one would be the greatest ever? Would it be a new car, a house or maybe a trip to some exotic place?
