It really was amazing how it happened. I'm not sure what he did to change. But when I was about 15 years old my dad was not very smart. He had all kinds of beliefs and rules that were old fashioned and foolish. I even got to the point that I prayed that he would get smarter and more up to date. Many of us remember the TV commercial about the elderly woman who was alone, fell in her home and "couldn't get up." She found herself in a bad situation. We all remember the woman's cry for help: "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."
If you have ever hiked through a wooded area you understand, "following the path."
Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." During this Memorial Day weekend, we take the time to remember those who have given their lives for us. I know that we, as a nation, have often debated the merits of a particular war. The reasons for conflict have been many and varied.

The Apostle Paul wrote, "Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God" (2 Cor. 1:2 – 4). Recently in a youth meeting we were discussing prayer requests when one of the teens started talking about a new student at his school. The student got into a discussion about religion and let him and his friends, who are professed Christians, know that they didn't want anything to do with God and would rather serve Satan.

In the beginning, religious leaders put little energy into biblical teachings about the environment. It was enough to know that God created an earth rich in resources and formed humans in his image to enjoy it.

"American Sniper," starring Bradley Cooper as a patriotic sniper serving in the Iraq War, is not “just a movie."
