Feasting on the word of the Lord

Feasting on the word of God will help us realize our need for God in our lives more each day. It will also help us come to realize our responsibility to "feed" the starving masses with this same word.

Jesus helps in tough times

My family and I recently went to see an inspiring movie that received rave reviews. "The Help" is a unique story of an American author who, during the civil rights movement of the 1960s, writes a book from African-American maids' points of view. It's about the white families the maids work for and the hardships they go through on a daily basis. The movie was wonderful and brought back a lot of memories from my childhood in the South. It was an eye-opener for my sheltered teenage children.

Lead an honorable life

I thought long and hard about what I could write for this column that would be relevant and impactful at this time. For several reasons, I decided to write about the value of honor - primarily because there is such a lack of honor being displayed across our nation, and because I need to do a better job at practicing what I preach.
