The commanded blessing

The 133rd division of Psalm says, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore."

Don't quit; it never pays off

One of the most well known scriptures we hear, read and remember is John 3:16 and it says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever beliveth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Remember who gave us freedom

We just celebrated the 4th of July, the anniversary of the date when America gained the right to be independent from all other nations. Our country's independence is part of God's gift of freedom. Many men and women have given their lives for our nation, attempting to retain our freedom and protect America from its enemies.

Actions should reaffirm beliefs

I am excited about my faith in God. I learned a long time ago that God was real and He can help in times of trouble. I believe it's impossible for me to exist without my faith in a God who is omniscient, omnipoten and omnipresent.

Adhere to a few 'absolutes'

I am excited about freedom. This weekend we join Americans around the world in celebrating our country's 233rd birthday. The founding fathers came to America many years ago in search of freedom and opportunity. Then, one day, they gathered and signed the Declaration of Independence. What a day that must have been!

We must be born again in God's life

God said, "Let us; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; make man in our own image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Genesis 1:2

Work hard for the Lord

Back in the summers of my college days, I worked for a builder. For the most part, I kept the skilled laborers (carpenters and brick layers) supplied with materials. Then, there was the biggest mistake I made during my first summer.

Learn the Bible to understand the Holy Spirit’s purpose

"But now I am going to him who sent me; yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convince the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because ...

Pastor's Corner: Take a little time to find out what prayers can do

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months." - James 5:16-17
