Christ's sacrifice is part of every season

More people think about Jesus this time of year than at any other. You hear people say "He is the reason for the season." The thing is he is the reason for all the seasons.

Our decisions determine destiny

You are the sum total of every decision you have ever made - good, bad or indifferent. Neither God nor the devil can be blamed for where you are in life. You are where you are and have what you have because of your decisions.

God is the ultimate organizer

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? I remember receiving a phone call from my mom many years ago. It was sometime in August, just before school was to start. We were about three minutes into the conversation when she said to me in a very excited tone, "I've finished my Christmas shopping!"

Let the Lord lead you to thankful life

Psalm 100 is the song of a thankful heart, a command to worship and serve this God, who made us by entering into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. These praises unto God must be sung from our lips and from the depths of our souls. We must praise the Lord in the place recognized by the world as His court and also within the gates of our secret lives. If there is no praise for our God, then surely our song will not be accepted.

Heed God's directions

In five days, many of us will be gathered around a table with family to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. For my family, that will mean lots of loud talking and laughter and the consumption of more food than we ever should eat.

Come now, let us reason together: Part 2

Last week, we looked at Isaiah 1:18 and saw that God was willing to give his people an opportunity to come to their senses and turn back to him. Those people failed to heed God's warnings. Surely, man can learn from their mistakes (Romans 15:4).

Stone movers wanted by God

"Jesus said, 'Take ye away the stone.' Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, 'Lord, by this time he stinketh, for he hath been dead four days.' Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, 'Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.' And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth.' And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was bound about with a napkin.
