Blood drive contest advances to Round 3

The American Red Cross Battle of the Badges is back with Round 3. On Aug. 22, representatives from the local sheriff's office, police department, fire department and emergency medical service will battle it out to see who can recruit the most people in the community to donate blood.

Governor OKs hire of 100 child protective service workers

Gov. Nathan Deal recently approved the hire of 100 new child protective service workers to assist with a recent influx of cases. The number of reports of child abuse and neglect has increased significantly since the opening of a centralized 24/7 Child Protective Services Intake Communications Center.
