Carrots wonderful for you, inside and out

A few weeks ago, I came upon a great find at the Hinesville Farmers Market: mixed organic carrots. There were quite a sight, a bounty of white, purple, yellow, and orange. I bought several pounds of the multi-colored beauties and couldn't wait to get home to prepare them.

Walk-in urgent care clinic renamed

Georgia Emergency Associates, which had been operating the South Georgia Immediate Care Center in Hinesville since November 2011, recently announced that the walk-in urgent care clinic was rebranded as St. Joseph's/Candler Immediate Care. The change went into effect April 5.

Rec class for moms pushing strollers

For many mothers, the prospect of getting out of the house and getting in a good workout with the kids in tow is a dream at best. A new "Stroller Fit Moms" class, provided by the Liberty County Recreation Department, will give Liberty County parents a new outlet for exercise. It starts in May and meets from 10-11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Liberty Independent Troop Park.

Free mobile clinic to be in Ludowici

BRUNSWICK - The Southeast Georgia Health System's Wellness on Wheels mobile health vehicle will provide screenings during April. Wellness on Wheels provides low-cost and free health screenings, first aid and preventative education to the community at health departments, industries and businesses, health fairs, churches and community events. Services available on the WOW include bone density, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, lab draws, flu shots, health education and more. Additional screenings provided are digital mammograms. All mammograms require a physician's order. Insurance is accepted and financial assistance is available to patients who qualify.
