Spring is a berry, berry good time

Berry season is my favorite time of year. Even though most berries can be found in groceries all year, they are riper, sweeter and much cheaper during spring, making it the perfect time to increase your consumption of fresh fruit, especially strawberries.

Rec class for moms pushing strollers

For many mothers, the prospect of getting out of the house and getting in a good workout with the kids in tow is a dream at best. A new "Stroller Fit Moms" class, provided by the Liberty County Recreation Department, will give Liberty County parents a new outlet for exercise. It starts in May and meets from 10-11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Liberty Independent Troop Park.

Free mobile clinic to be in Ludowici

BRUNSWICK - The Southeast Georgia Health System's Wellness on Wheels mobile health vehicle will provide screenings during April. Wellness on Wheels provides low-cost and free health screenings, first aid and preventative education to the community at health departments, industries and businesses, health fairs, churches and community events. Services available on the WOW include bone density, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, lab draws, flu shots, health education and more. Additional screenings provided are digital mammograms. All mammograms require a physician's order. Insurance is accepted and financial assistance is available to patients who qualify.

To coincide with International Women's Day, Winn Army Community Hospital's Department of Preventative Medicine held a women's and teens Lunch and Learn health event March 8 at the Fort Stewart Youth Center. Annual food drive wraps up this weekend

Curves International's 15th annual food drive, "Feed the Need," which challenges Curves' club members in the United States and Canada to meet a goal of 100,000 donations, ends Saturday. Each club, including Curves in Hinesville and Richmond Hill, is accepting donations of non-perishable food or cash to support local food banks. In addition, Curves will waive the joining fee for new members who bring in a bag of non-perishable food or donate $30 to a local food bank during the drive.

LCHS students certified in first aid
