Eat right, even with candy in the house

Halloween is easily one of my favorite holidays - second only to Christmas. The idea of getting to dress up as anything you want and gallivant through the community with family, friends and neighbors to get candy is not only great fun, but always has been special to me. I really enjoy the sense of community that comes with Halloween, especially since it is often the one time of year we get out and see all of our neighbors.

Golf tourney for fitness, fights hunger

A golf tournament was held Saturday at Cherokee Rose Country Club to raise money for the Manna House food pantry, which provides food for needy families in Liberty County. Each year, Manna House volunteers distribute baskets stuffed with turkey dinners for Thanksgiving and holiday meals for Christmas.

Baking bread at home is option

I have had a love affair with bread for just about as long as I can remember. I recall many childhood meals where my parents had to cut me off from eating any more rolls so that I wouldn't spoil my dinner.
