Bring out grill for healthy fare

Summer is known as the cookout season, but my family's gas grill gets some serious year-round use. We grill steaks, chops, burgers or vegetables at least once a week. It's convenient to fire up the grill during the hottest months of the year, eliminating the need to use the oven or stove, which can unnecessarily heat up a home.

Children can be disruptive dinner guests

Question: Help! We find it almost impossible to finish a restaurant meal when our 18-month-old twins are along, which is always. We give them toys to keep them busy, and they do well for about 30 minutes after which chaos breaks loose. They begin screaming and throwing things and make it very difficult for us to finish our meal much less enjoy conversation with other adults who may be with us. It's very embarrassing, and I generally end up leaving the restaurant with them. How can I be more proactive about this problem?

Diversity Health Clinic honors board member

Diversity Health Center Board of Directors recently honored former Liberty County DFCS Director Sallie Richardson, who was recognized at the board's recent annual meeting for serving as a board member since 2006. She also has served as the nominating committee chairwoman. Diversity Health Center has two sites to serve the public, 213 N. More than 200 people attended the 13th annual Walk to Dorchester Academy earlier this month in honor of the post-Civil War struggle newly emancipated slaves endured in pursuit of education. Walkers, runners and bicyclists participated to commemorate the rich history in Liberty County while enjoying the exercise benefits of trekking the 9.2 miles between Riceboro and Dorchester Academy in Midway.

Wayne Memorial in Chairman's Circle

JESUP - Because of its accomplishments in the patient-safety arena during 2012, Wayne Memorial Hospital has been named to the Georgia Hospital Association's Hospital Engagement Network's Chairman's Circle. The honor is the second-highest in network's recognition program and places the hospital in the 90th percentile or above. Only 13 other Georgia hospitals in the network finished in the Chairman's Circle.
