Panel recommends changes to military retirement

WASHINGTON -- A panel looking at military compensation has recommended dramatic changes in the military retirement system.

The recommendations are part of the second volume put out by the 10th Quadrennial Review of Military Compensation.

Job fair here targets military

SAVANNAH -- The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in the Savannah area Aug. 7. The career fair will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Econo Lodge, formerly the Sans Hotel and Suites, in Hinesville. RecruitMilitary urges all job seekers who have military backgrounds to attend - veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

Change of command is milestone for returning surge force

Monday's change-of-command ceremony at Fort Stewart set against the backdrop of near-daily 3rd Infantry Division homecoming ceremonies, marked one of the last milestones for the surge force that's credited with helping to bring about a dramatic turnaround in Iraq.

Army Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch passed command of the "Rock of the Marne" division to Army Maj. Gen. Anthony Cucolo as his soldiers continued to return home from their third combat deployment to Iraq.
