General: Conditions will set troop levels

U.S. soldiers, Iraqi police worth together

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq, -- Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division's Troop C, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, conducted an operation with Iraqi National Police officers Feb. 18, supporting the Iraqi Civil Conservation Force and the "Sons of Iraq" citizen security group in Tameem, a small village southeast of Baghdad.

Military declares satellite shootdown a success

WASHINGTON Based on debris analysis, officials are confident the Feb. 21 missile intercept and destruction of a nonfunctioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite was successful in destroying the fuel tank and reducing risk to people on Earth, the Defense Department announced Monday.

The satellite's fuel tank contained hydrazine, a hazardous chemical that could have posed a risk to humans if the satellite or its fuel tank had reentered the atmosphere intact.
