82nd Airborne Brigade to head home from Iraq early

Brigade leaves Iraq region secure, revitalized

WASHINGTON -- Nearing the end of a 15-month deployment in Iraq's Madain Qada region, the 3rd Infantry Division's 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team has accomplished its purpose of contributing to violence reduction in Baghdad and stabilizing communities throughout the region, the brigade's commander said last week.

Pentagon announces next deployments

Female soldier dies in Iraq

The Department of Defense announced over the weekend the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Mary J. Jaenichen, 20, of Temecula, Calif., died May 9 in Iskandariyah, Iraq, of a non-combat related injury. She was assigned to the Brigade Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. Jaenichen was a military police officer. She joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Stewart in January 2007.
