Vietnam veterans honored for service

Marine Corps and Vietnam veteran Bill Anderson walked slowly to the front of the First Baptist Church in Pembroke Saturday and accepted a certificate of honor for his contributions during the Southeast Asian war.

Legion, Auxiliary donate to VA hospital

Members of Hinesville American Legion Auxiliary and several members of the local chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America recently took 425 bags of fruit to the Carl Vinson VA hospital in Dublin. The ladies of the auxiliary who participated included, from left, Treasurer Anneliese Knapp and President Anet Owens. The auxiliary also donated 100 pairs of socks to the veteran's hospital.

Neighborhood center honors veterans on Fourth

Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) kicked off the July 4 holiday weekend on Friday, June 30, with a celebration of seniors' independence and a recognition of veterans whose sacrifice made independence for all possible. The celebration included the delivery of greeting cards and American flags donated by local United Healthcare Insurance offices, to nearly 500 Meals On Wheels clients in Chatham, Bryan, Liberty, and Effingham counties by SCI staff and volunteers.
