Local student walks in Ashworth graduation

NORCROSS - Ashworth College, parent company of Ashworth High School, welcomed more than 1,400 graduates, faculty, family and friends Aug. 7 to the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta for the 2010 graduation ceremony. It was the largest in the school's history. Two-hundred and eighty-six Ashworth graduates attended, representing each of the school's high school and college degree, certificate and diploma programs.

The annual Scholarships for Military Children Program winners recently were announced. Two Fort Stewart applicants earned scholarships. More than 6,000 students applied for the scholarships at commissary locations worldwide.

Student on AASU dean's list

Amanda Kathleen Herring of Whitmarsh Island, formerly of Hinesville, was named to dean's list at Armstrong Atlantic State University for the spring 2010 semester, according to AASU Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Ellen Whitford. Herring earned a 4.0 grade point average.
