Children would benefit from running their own sports

Thirty years ago, I offered a free (expenses-only) speaking engagement to any community that would abolish adult-organized-and-run children's sports programs (except those run by high schools) and replace them with programs organized and run by the children themselves.

Take a break from negativity

Editor: As we enter the Lenten season, I encourage the Courier to take a fast from printing negative political comments in Sound Off. Last Saturday there were 7 sound offs and 7 were negative! When I read those I can just see the venom spewing out of both sides of each caller's mouth. Don't be part of the hate game, use the space for something more positive, more educational and your reader base may even increase.
