Quizzes close school year at Jordye Bacon

Jordye Bacon Elementary recently concluded the school year with a Jeopardy-style quiz bowl for K-2 and a three-strike elimination quiz bowl for grades 3-5. Winners of the K-2 were on team 3; Diamond Stiff, Michael Alexis and Jakorian Willis. Winners of the black history bowl were Tyma Bullard, first place, Kylee Proffitt second, and Kyshon Campbell, third.

Seventh grader is county's top speller

Haleigh Hawkins won the Liberty County School System's 2008-09 Spelling Bee winner. She is a seventh-grader at Lewis Frasier Middle School. Students who participated in the bee ranged from fourth through eighth grades and each elementary and middle school within the system was represented by its top spellers.

Lewis Frasier fetes readers

The top Accelerated Readers for the year at Lewis Frasier Middle School were treated to a recent ice cream social, complete with prizes. Fifty-one students who earned 200 or more points for the year also attended Wii parties and were eligible to win a Wii game system.
