School in Georgia closes because of flu

ATLANTA - Georgia health officials have shut down a suburban Atlanta private school after a 14-year-old student tested positive for swine flu.

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy in Henry County has suspended all classes for 14 days, though no other students are displaying symptoms of the potentially fatal H1N1 virus, said Dr. Elizabeth Ford, head of the state's Division of Public Health.

Students show artistic talents

Liberty County students and parents attended ArtsFest 2009 Tuesday night at Liberty County High School. The school showcased local student talents in a variety of media. The LCHS Jazz Ensemble kicked off the evening and was followed by other performances including LCHS Flute Choir, chorus, drama presentation, poetry readings and a cosmetology presentation. Family members and visitors also gathered in the media center to browse the visual arts display, which showcased more than 100 pieces of art. Calls to get the names of student winners had not been returned by the Courier's deadline.
