Crystal C. Knowling of Liberty County was among 157 South Georgia College students to earn a spot on the 2010 fall semester dean's list, according to Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carl B. McDonald. In addition, 38 students were named to the dean's list for part-time students.

Mrs. Connie Klein's fourth-grade gifted resource class at Joseph Martin Elementary studied ancient Egypt before the holiday break. The students learned about mummification, including how the ancient Egyptians prepared bodies for mummification, embalming procedures, wrapping the bodies and arrangements for the afterlife.
The Bradwell Institute Future Farmers of America chapter visited Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Long County on Thursday to share some holiday cheer with residents. State School Superintendent Brad Bryant earlier this month announced that Georgia's students, across all categories, made positive gains on the 2010 Georgia High School Writing Test.
