Walker FBLA students place at region

The Walker Middle School FBLA members attended a region leadership conference Jan. 20 at Wayne County High School. Thirty-seven students attended and several won awards. The winning students will move on to compete at the state leadership conference March 4 in Macon.

Grant funds JME mentoring programs

The Darien Walmart recently presented a $1,000 grant to Joseph Martin Elementary School teacher Teresa Goody. Goody wrote a grant to fund the school's mentoring program, which is called PALS.

LCHS offers grad test tutoring

Liberty County High School is having after-school tutoring for students who will take the Georgia High School Graduation Test. Sessions will continue through March. Each session runs from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows:

Joseph Martin students have green thumbs

Joseph Martin Elementary students and teachers have been growing plants from seeds in the school's greenhouse. The greenhouse received a Bright Ideas grant from Coastal Electric, which was applied for by teacher Vicki Funston.

FPCA crowns queens at Winterfest

First Presbyterian Christian Academy's yearbook staff and student council hosted Winterfest on Dec. 11 to raise money for the school and student organizations. The event, which drew a large crowd, included concerts, festival games, crafts and vendors who traveled from as far as Albany and Atlanta to set up shop.
