WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., recently announced his nominations from Liberty County to the United States service academies.
The percentage of Georgia students in the Class of 2015 scoring 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement exam during high school is up, according to data released Wednesday by the College Board. Georgia is ranked 13th in the nation for the percentage of students scoring 3 or higher on at least one exam, and is one of just 15 states to exceed the national average.

Future Business Leaders of America members at Lewis Frasier Middle School celebrated FBLA Week by dressing in business attire. FBLA week is celebrated the second week in February and is an opportunity to inform the public about the purpose of school-to-work activities and programs.
Members of Lewis Frasier Middle School's Future Business Leaders of America attended the region leadership conference in January. It was an opportunity for members to showcase their skills and expertise in business and FBLA concepts. Students who earned awards for their knowledge included Denisha Nichols (fifth place in FBLA concepts), Ericka Varnedoe (fourth in FBLA concepts), Taleiyah Goodwin (fifth in business spelling) and Mikayla Williams (first in business spelling). They qualified to compete at the state level in Perry on Feb. 23.
Jordan Graham of Bradwell Institute is the Liberty County School System's 2016 STAR student, and she chose social studies teacher Mike Bell as her STAR teacher.
The STAR Student and Teacher for Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School were announced earlier today at a Progress Through People Luncheon, held at Connection Church.
Armstrong State University will host a one-day registration event for new students to apply, be admitted and sign up for Spring Mini-mester classes. Designed to kick-start careers in growing fields including information technology, business economics and health science, this event is tailored to working professionals, though traditional students are also welcome. All application fees will be waived for the event.
