School honors young writers

Smiley Elementary students recently participated in a writing contest sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education. The Young Georgia Authors writing competition encourages students to develop enthusiasm and expertise in writing. It is also an opportunity to celebrate and recognize students' writing. Smiley grade-level winners are Zarah Story (kindergarten), Conner DeLoach (first grade), Ramsey Middleton (second) and Kaylen Aldridge (third). Their entries will advance to the district competition. The students will also read their stories at a countywide writing celebration later this month.
