Legion Auxiliary donates to Haiti relief

On March 12, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary from Post 168 of Hinesville presented a $250 check to the American Red Cross for the people of Haiti. Program coordinator Mark Moses-Hunt accepted the donation from Auxiliary President Anneliese Knapp and secretary/treasurer Marie Lehigh.

Master gardeners celebrate statewide

ATLANTA - During the past 30 years, more than 5,000 people across the state have worked tirelessly for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension without compensation. They are the state's master gardeners, volunteers trained in horticulture who make up the network of dedicated individuals who love gardening and share their time and talents with the community.

Art contest for Georgia Cities Week

The city of Hinesville's elementary art contest began March 15. The art contest is part of a schedule of events to celebrate Georgia Cities Week during April 18-24. The deadline for the art contest is March 25 and winners will be announced in April during Georgia Cities Week.

Hi-Fidelity Club gives back to community

The Hi-Fidelity Civic Club recently made donations to several community organizations and Liberty County families who lost their homes to fire. Recipients included: Scott's All-Stars basketball team, accepted by coach Marcus Scott; The Cub Pack 581, presented by Hi-Fidelity Club member Yvonne Woods to Cub Masters Herman Baker and Steven Mullice; and The Fostering Care and Hope Inc., presented by club members Verna Jean Luckey, Yvonne Woods, Marcus Scott, Rosa Walthour, Beverly Gross and Betty Frazier to Director Suerena Duvall.

Pageant recruiting contestants until March 31

The Altamaha Southern Miss Pageant is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Celebration Castle in Ludowici. The pageant's theme is "Cinderella and Her Prince." It is the preliminary to the Georgia Southern Miss State Scholarship Pageant.
