The 3rd Infantry Division Band's brass quintet, woodwind quintet and jazz combo performs its monthly Rhythm of the Marne concert. The concert is free and open to the public. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Nu Rho Omega Chapter recently attended the 66th international convention of the organization. Over 11,500 members of the international organization participated in the weeklong event July 12-18 at the Charlotte Convention Center. During the event, Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was installed as the 2014-18 international president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. The 2014-18 International Program will focus on the theme, "Launching New Dimensions of Service," through which the sorority's 265,000 members will address community needs via service programs.

Hinesville firefighter and musician Marcus Barrett recently hosted a musicians' shed at New Day Community Church. A shed is designed for musicians to practice music, usually with special care to be kept from being disturbed. Musicians from throughout Liberty County gathered to share gifts and music. Drums, keyboards, guitars and a few vocals were performed well into the night. Barrett is working on the next event.
