Money available for emergency food, shelter
SAVANNAH - Chatham County has received federal funds under the emergency food and shelter national board program. Chatham County will receive $165,157 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in this area. The funds will be distributed in 2009 to the qualifying organizations selected by the local board. The United Way of the Coastal Empire serves as the administrator of the local board.
Midway mommy-to-be wins $25,000
ATLANTA - The stork made a special delivery to an expectant mother from Midway. Destiny Schussler, 25, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks and won $25,000.

When the Top of the Morning Rotary Club of Charlotte, N.C., called on Rotarians in Georgia to help buy a van to transport special needs children to school, area Rotary clubs sprang into action. New Eagle Scout honored for recent achievements

Lions Club plans to help Georgians
Members of the Hinesville Lion's Club joined the myaor as he signed a proclamation Thursday in honor of White Cane Day. The Lions Club will participate in White Cane Day on Saturday, April 4, at Wal-Mart. They will accept donations to help Georgians in need of vision and hearing care.
