Midway church marks 9/11 anniversary

New Day Outreach Ministry in Midway commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with a special service. Pastor Richard D. Hayes, president of the United Ministerial Alliance, gave a ceremonial speech in conjunction with the event and presented an honorary U.S. flag, which flew on the lawn of the United States Capital in Washington, D.C.

Retired commander donates to vets memorial

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Glenn Webster, a former 3rd Infantry Division commander, recently donated $10,000 to Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas, center, and George Holtzman, chairman of HMAC's Veterans Memorial Walk committee. Holtzman said he expects to receive several sizable donations in the coming weeks to help pay for the memorial to be built at Bryant Commons.
