Liberty Relay will raise funds, cancer awareness

Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Relay for Life participants will circle the Liberty County Recreation Department's football field for 12 consecutive hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society while boosting awareness and supporting survivors. So far, Liberty County teams have raised $75,895.89. Their goal is $154,000, said Jessica Seagle, community manager of the South Atlantic division of the American Cancer Society.

Telephone workers donate to fire victims

Centurylink Pioneers recently donated $500 and household goods to the family of Natalie Bischoff, whose home was destroyed by fire in February. The $500 was provided by the Independent Telephone Pioneers Association Charitable Foundation. Hinesville is home to the ITPA National Office and Telephone Museum at Bryant Commons.

Pink Panther fundraiser at school

Liberty County High School held its fourth annual Pink Panther Day for breast-cancer awareness Oct. 30. This event is sponsored by Family Career and Community Leaders of America. This year, Pink Panther Day was held in honor of Kim Brown, an LCHS teacher who is battling breast cancer. This year's shirt was designed in honor of Brown and had her favorite quote, "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have," on the back with her initials. FCCLA members sold 267 shirts, almost double what they sold last year. Proceeds totaling $850 ...
