Grants aid historical preservation

Preliminary work on the restoration of the Miller Pasture area in Allenhurst began as students from the Savannah College of Art and Design historical preservation class spent their spring semester analyzing and creating architectural reports for a building on the property. Also, the University of Georgia's Warnell School of Forestry conducted studies on the ecology, biology and environmental aspects of the estate.

Decades after posing for a photo on their bikes, four cycling pals reunited this past April for an updated photo at the same location - the old Moore home on Smiley Street. Jimmy and Lynda Mobley and their children, Jeff Mobley, Marla Mobley Troha (wife of councilman Steve Troha), and Ronal and Joyce Moore and their children, Kevin Moore and Lynn Moore Granger, gathered, along with some of their former neighbors, for the reunion.
