The Christmas season officially has begun. (I don't count retailers' efforts to sell Christmas decorations starting in July.) It is December now, so we really are getting close to the big day. Before you get too busy, I hope you will take a few minutes to give a special gift to a local business by nominating one of them for a quarterly Win-dex Award. The Win-dex Awards are Keep Liberty Beautiful's way of recognizing attractive, litter-free local businesses. Nominating a business can be your way of thanking the operation for its efforts.
Riceboro residents gathered last weekend at Briar Bay Park for the city's first annual Thanksgiving feast. The event committee, which included Riceboro City Councilman Chris Stacey, David Miller, John Young, the Rev. Darlene Jackson, Linda Fagan and others from various churches, partnered with organizations to distribute turkeys, gift baskets and meals to Riceboro residents.
