United Way falls short of 2013 goal

The United Way of Liberty County just missed its $199,000 fundraising campaign goal for 2013. The organization raised $182,021, or 91 percent of its goal, according to Jennifer Darsey, director of the United Way of the Coastal Empire's Liberty office. Last year's goal was $195,000, she said. The campaign began Sept. 4 and ended Nov. 22.

Liberty celebrating holidays

Liberty Countians will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and his reindeer, create holiday-themed arts and crafts, decorate cookies and join in caroling at the seventh annual Christmas in the Park from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in downtown Hinesville's Bradwell Park. The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority host the free event, which, will end with the crowd singing "Silent Night" as the community Christmas tree is lit.
