Just before noon Monday, Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes and a handful of deputies began putting together Thanksgiving gift boxes in the sheriff's office conference room to hand-deliver to families throughout Liberty County who otherwise may have gone without a holiday feast Thursday.

They are good friends, and both attend Bethesda Church in Hinesville. Parker's donation marked the 1,000th kidney donation at the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic. She celebrated and enjoyed cake with the clinic staff. After some ups and downs with post-transplant procedures, Blank now is doing well. Parker said the transplant also marked the third time someone from Bethesda Church has donated a kidney to another.
