More first-time homeless seeking help

More people are becoming homeless for the first time due to such factors as job loss, catastrophic illness and domestic violence, according to Hinesville Homeless Prevention Program coordinator Daisy Jones. She said the Homeless Prevention Program is doing what it can to assist area residents.

Project Runway has come to Hinesville! It's true, but don't expect to see Heidi Klum or Tim Gunn walking down Main Street. Recently, one of First Presbyterian Christian Academy's summer workshops featured fashion design with a twist. All of the young designers who participated used repurposed items and everyday materials to create recycled fashions.

State YMCA taps local woman

Joan Hollingsworth has been selected to serve as the 2011 finance chairwoman for the State YMCA of Georgia in Liberty County. The finance drive currently is under way to support the state YMCA program in middle and high schools in Georgia through Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y and coed "Y" Clubs.
