Firefighters, Chili's team up to give back
Many people who dined at Chili's restaurant in Hinesville yesterday helped city firefighters raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Chili's donated 10 percent of its sales Tuesday to the firefighters' MDA fundraising campaign.

Rotary welcomes exchange student
All the way from Wrexham, Wales, Sarah Pugh, a Georgia Rotary Student Program participant, spoke to the Hinesville club Tuesday about her experience studying in the United States.
Area showcases assets to military community
Several hundred soldiers, military spouses and their dependents browsed the semiannual Community Showcase on Wednesday at Club Stewart. The showcase's 67 participants offered military families information on recreational activities, support services and educational programs available in Southeast Georgia and nearby Florida.
Rotary gives fans to seniors
The Rotary Club of Hinesville is sponsoring a fans for seniors program, spearheaded by Jim Johns of Express Signs. This year, more than 50 fans have been distributed to seniors. Those needing fans were identified through the Coastal Courier, Senior Citizens Inc., Manna House and St. Philip's Episcopal Church. The program will be open to seniors again next year.

Sewing club uses talents to help others
A few women at First Baptist Church are using their sewing talents to help others. They have formed a group, comprised of exerpeinced and beginner seamstresses, and they meet from 10 a.m.-noon every Wednesday in the Phillips Building.
Local artist recognized nationally
Hinesville's gospel sensation Terry Newsome is currently in Nashville, Tenn., for the Just Plain Folks Music Awards, where he has been nominated for awards in the categories of Best Album, Best Gospel Song and Best Urban Gospel Song for songs featured on his 2007 album "Mo Soul Music."
Long Relay for Life wraps up year
LUDOWICI - The Long County Relay for Life ended its year on Aug. 20 with a wrap up party honoring all teams and participants.
