It's about time for the government to start paying more attention to the real working folks in America and less attention to those collecting a welfare check. Welfare was never meant to be a career opportunity, and people are taking advantage of this.
We need to know who is in charge in Hinesville that allows business to close their business, move to another shop and leave an empty building. This happens all the time in Hinesville. You don't see this in Richmond Hill. You don't see this in Savannah. They don't have a bunch of empty buildings because a store moves down the street.
If there are any race cards to be played, my question is: Who dealt the cards? I'm one of the many that witnessed an injustice today. A young lady was riding a bicycle on a sidewalk in Ludowici, and a police officer almost ran that poor woman down. They need to do something about their law enforcement in that county. It really feels bad to lose something, but when it's of sentimental value, the feeling ...
Our local leaders who express shock and disappointment at the failure of T-SPLOST should take another look at our $8 million remake of Olvey Field, our three courthouses, our ridiculously pretentious city hall and our $12 million school board palace for starters. The message that you don't understand is that we no longer trust you with our money.
When a waiter or waitress's service is poor, we don't tip. Yet we pay Comcast to mistreat us every month and on-time. I have been without Comcast cable since Monday, today is Friday. Until the city, mayor, city manager, city council members and city attorney lose their internet and cable, the citizens of Hinesville will not get good service or respect.
I'm a first-time caller, and I just want to go on record supporting the Chick-fil-A public stance on same-sex marriage. I know you all gave it a thumbs' down, but I just want to go on record as supporting them. I think it was awesome that a big business would take a stand like that.
Here's to the person that complains of rich and the Republicans because they're not rich. Shame on you. You live in America and you have the chance and opportunity to make and improve yourself. That's what America is about. Yay, yay for the rich. Good for them, they made it.
I was behind the Liberty County Transit bus today going to Fort Stewart, and I asked the gate guard, "How many people normally ride the transit bus?" I was told, out of nine buses entering Fort Stewart, there are only three people riding them. Normally there's just a bus driver, I was told. This is fraud, waste and abuse of federal, state and local tax dollars.
What is going on in Long County? We've got four-wheelers riding around neighborhoods. If there is an empty house, they circle it and circle it. Somebody owns that property, even if they're not there, and it's gone back to the bank. They just have no respect, and we're overrun with four-wheelers.
I know it sounds kind-of unorthodox, but if people would put heavy-duty aluminum foil with the shiny side out on their windows, they would cut down on the heat coming into the house and therefore cut the consumption of electricity and keep it cooler. I can do it on mine and I set my conditioner on 80 and it still stays 60 in the house.
To the caller who was complaining about four-wheelers: Rye Patch ATV Track is location right off of Rye Patch Road. The phone number is 912-318-1984. It's a great place to ride.
There's a very strong need for a facility where rescue dogs, foster families that take care of rescue dogs 'til they're adopted. Why is there not a facility during severe weather that the elderly, the rescues can take their animals and know they're protected? It's missing here.
Whoever went down Davis Road and threw out a sack of garbage, including a baby's diaper, in front of my house, I suspect their whole house and yard is that way. They have no respect for their county, their roads or anybody. You just can say that they're nasty people, whoever they are.
I was on school grounds picking up my son and my daughter from middle school all year round, and I have witnessed these yellow buses going on a rampage more focused on their route. Pulling out, without looking, looking straight, cutting cars off - I've watched a car turn almost all the way around, the bus keeps going. And the next one goes, and the next one.
Let me get this straight: You want the taxpayers to contribute one more cent for a dollar that they spend at the places where they spend money to extend the bus system that no one rides at $8.5 million? This must be new math; this just doesn't work for me.
