Fort Stewart opens eye surgery clinic

Col. John Collins, Fort Stewart's Army Medical Department Activity commander; Brig. Gen. Donald Bradshaw, Southeast Regional Medical Command commanding general; Capt. Kelly Yard, 385th MP Battalion and Fort Stewart's first refractive surgery patient; Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, 3rd Infantry Division commanding general; Sarah Lynch and Lt. Col. Ava Huchun, chief of ophthalmology at Winn Army Community Hospital cut the ribbon at the new Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program Center at Fort Stewart on June 23. Fort Stewart is one of only 10 places throughout the entire Army that has a WRESP center. The laser eye surgery is currently open to active duty soldiers only and will treat about 2,000 soldiers per year.
